About Hull Brothers, Inc.
The success of Hull Brothers, Inc. stems from the great dedication of many fantastic and dedicated employees who devoted themselves to providing the best customer service to the Midwestern farming community. But it all started more than a century and a quarter ago with a tale of two brothers in Ohio.
Our History
Hull Bros began in 1896 when John Hull and his brother, Manuel Hull, began selling farm equipment in
Fort Recovery. Manuel, whose nickname was Dicker, was the main salesman for the business. Dicker never
married and had no children, so when his brother, John, died in 1934, Dicker became partners with John’s
son, Norman. The two owned the business together until Dicker’s death in 1941.
Early on the business was located on what is now North Wayne Street in Fort Recovery until 1948 when
Norman purchased land on the east edge of town. The business has been operating on East Boundary Street
to this day.
Norman and his wife, Coda, had four children. The oldest, John, moved to the Columbus area and has had a
lengthy career in electronics, recording music, and radio. Richard Hull joined Hull Bros in 1951. Alice,
Norman’s daughter, married Tony Rini and resides in Dover, Ohio. Norman Jr (Buzz) Hull joined the
business in 1960.
Norman died in 1974, Richard and Buzz then ran the business as the third generation owners.
Richard retired about 2003, while Buzz retired at the end of 2007. Tom Hull, Buzz’s son, became the
president of the company until his unexpected passing in December of 2009.
Today, brothers Bob and Dave Hull (Buzz’s sons) are the two owners of the business. Two of Dave’s sons,
Lane and Grant, currently work in the parts department. One of Richard’s grandsons, Randy Evans, serves
the business as a salesman and AFS technician.
Although this writing focuses of the Hull family and their history with Hull Bros, the company has been
very successful for well over a hundred years because of the great dedication of many fantastic and
dedicated employees. It would be impossible to name them all.
